A new surge of Right Wing Terrorism

It has been less than two weeks since the assassination of Dr. George Tiller, and we have another home brew terrorist attempting to wreak havoc. James Von Brunn walked into the Washington D.C. Holocaust museum with the intent to kill as many Jews as he could. A brave guard, who initially was opening the door for someone who he thought could use assistance, prevented multiple potential murders by shielding Von Brunn with his own body and taking the bullets himself.

I am sure that this comes as no surprise that those in the right wing are trying to blame liberals for this mess. In fact, Glenn Beck goes as far as spouting a lot of nonsense in front of three old white men and his audience that attempts to convince the super gullible of this ‘liberal fact’. Here are some of the choicer ideas that he put forth:

Hitler and the Nazis were left wing
Considering that most right wing people equate left wing with socialism, this one actually made me chuckle. The Nazi’s were Facists, which is directly and aggressively opposed to socialism, and therefore left wing thinkers. I am not sure if Mr. Beck really does not know the difference, or he merely feels that his audience does not know, does not care about the difference.

Ultimately President Barack Obama is the one responsible for the violence because his “bailouts” and “Socialistic” policies are engendering widespread anger.
Am I the only one who sees this as a variation on blaming the victim? I swear it sounds like all those stupid rape defenses where the woman had it ‘coming’ because she was wearing a ’slutty outfit’. He can’t anger people, or he is responsible for them going insane and murdering people. Does that go for everyone? Like Right wing Talk Show hosts that incite violence by calling abortion doctors ‘Baby Killers?’ Or is that a special limitation reserved only for President Obama.

Beck denounced those who claim he is “churning the pot” because, he says, “the pot is already boiling.”

The questions that one should really be asking is ‘Who is actually bring the heat on that is causing the pot to boil?” After all, Glenn Beck never said that his words are not actually capable of ‘churning the pot’, so to speak, he just says that people are already angry so he is not escalating anything. Which means he can and is still part of the problem because he keeps the issue alive and hot instead of cooling it down or letting it defuse itself or others to do it.

It is quite clear that the right wing media is doing it’s best to distance itself from such hatred to prevent any backlash. It’s just sad that they do it with another variation on hatred. There is a lot of hatred going on in the USA, and as a collective people we need to find a way to work it out. Hopefully without shooting more people.
