Obama To Denmark: Plans Emergency Trip To Copenhagen To Pitch Chicago Olympics

I admit that this is the first time the POTUS has stood up for the Olympics in a long time.

May he be trying to help out his adoptive home city? Well, I am sure that in his heart he feels that way, and I see nothing wrong with that. He might also be doing some quid pro quo politics, but I have no real proof and some QPQ is expected in life as well as politics. Of course I would love people to just do things out of kindness but I understand and accept reality.

Are people going to object to this? There will always be objecters, and they should be listened to. Perhaps Chicago can both win the bid and do something to correct certain things that were once reasonable objections. I am a big fan or trying for the win-win scenario. I also believe that win-win scnearios exist. Sometimes they are hard to find, but the more you listen the easier they are to uncover.

Overall, I am glad that Chicago is bidding for the Olympics and I hope they win the bid. I am cautiously optimistic about Obama going to Copenhagen. I do want our POTUS, now and in the future, to take interest in such events and aggressively foster global connections and good will. Even if Chicago fails to win the bid, at least the USA showed how serious we were about hosting the Olympics.
